Project Summary
•Made in the Unreal 3 Editor; warfare map
•First level in a series of three (other two levels created by Joel Pelletier and Chris McCarthy)
•A dominant government power has penetrated into an ancient ruin to open the doorway to heaven
•A group of rebels have just landed to thwart the government’s quest for power
•Utilizes various architectural themes related to Pre-Columbian Mesoamerica and Southwestern Ancestral Puebloan
•Possesses wide open spaces followed by tight close-quarters areas to provide a contrast of play
•As players move deeper into the ruins, the architecture shifts toward a more European and Middle Eastern style to give the sense that players are nearing something unexpected and different
•Custom art assets by Justin Superty
Role Summary
•Creator and Sole Designer
•Studied related architectural themes and drew scale plans before working in the engine
•Used Kismet sequences to add unique gameplay elements (ie: a node that requires that players sacrifice themselves to use it)
•Used a mix of dynamic and static lights to illustrate the proper mood of each area
•Created in roughly 4 months
